Park

Salonga National Park is the largest protected area of ​​tropical forest in Africa. It is located in Democratic Republic of Congo and covers 36,000 km². It consists of two blocks (north and south) separated by a corridor about 45 km wide. Historically managed by the Congolese Institute for Nature Conservation (ICCN).

Deep inside the Democratic Republic of Congo, Salonga National Park extends over 33,350km2, which makes it the largest forest national park in Africa and the second largest tropical forest park in the world. It was created in 1970 and classified as a World Heritage Site in 1984.
